What's New @ Eclectic Creations

I hope your New Year was everything you wanted it to be.

I spent my time with family and of course working.

I am so excited  about this year, 2013. 

I plan to offer,

small bags, purses, and other accessories to the shop this year.

Earlier this year, I began offering Paper Mache displays for venting, and custom made dress forms

for your home and/or boutiques.

 And it all has been a wonderful success.

I really can not Thank my supporters enough, you all have been my inspiration.

Eclectic Creations Ancient Wood Bowls

(Eclectic Creations Bowls)

Our ancestors would use symbols or pictures to communicate to one another some of these pictures/ symbols could represent entire words and phrases. The earliest form of this type of language, Sumerian, was found in Mesopotamia modern day Iraq.

Throughout history symbols have represented some very important statements and meanings African, Ireland, The American Southwest have many examples of symbols

 Ireland has the symbol Triquetra Latin meaning "three-cornered." It's a holy symbol, and its meanings are many. It varies in its aspects of spirit, nature, oneness, and of the cosmos.

In the Southwest there are prehistoric images pecked onto rock surfaces known as "petroglyphs...

And of course the most recognized

symbols are

hieroglyphs 

found in Egypt.

The first photo is one of my "bowls" that was just finished

a few days ago.

I love the way this bowl has turned out.

The old world charm of the bowl

was exactly what I was looking for.

I burned abstract marking into 

this bowl. 

I like the idea that this bowl could have been found in

some archaeological find.

My bowls are stained with a mixture of stains,

cherry, walnut and pecan. 

They will be available soon, to be displayed in your home, as well

as to hold your keys, knick knacks and other items.

My symbols have been taken from different symbols that

I have researched through the library, (my favorite spot), the internet or

other resources of information.

Natural Hair

One of my other interest and loves is natural hair. I have been natural now for 14 months and can not image going back to the creamy crack no Lye or Lye chemicals relaxers. 

I love the texture of my hair and the variety of styles I can achieve, something in which, I could not do when I was relaxing my hair.

From time to time I have been finding some wonderful bloggers that focus on Black Folk hair.

Today on Naturally Beautiful Hair Blog, she posts some wonderful pictures of Dreads, or Locs and other natural hair beauties.

Her site lead lead me to this great site Fanta Celah Creations, here they offer some beautiful jewelery and art work.

I think this is beautiful and I am not a fan of patch work ;however, this project done over at Hope Studios DIY, is a great example on how to create this great piece of work.

Sliding Shoji-Screen Doors for an Entertainment Center

HGTV Design on a Dime

Tools and Materials: 
entertainment center/bookshelf
ebony stain
two pre-built bookshelf frames 
roll of rice paper
four pieces of 8-foot shelf cleat 
spray adhesive
four 1/4" square dowel rods
nail gun
chop saw

Steps: 
1. Stain dowel rods, frames and entertainment center.

2. Use spray adhesive to attach rice paper to the rear of the bookshelf frames.

3. Cut away excess rice paper (figure A).

4. Nail ebony frame onto the front of the bookshelf frame.

5. Cut dowel rods to size and attach to face of rice paper.

6. Cut the shelf cleat and attach it to the top and bottom of the frame.

7. Attach the corresponding cleat to the front of the entertainment center.

8. Slide frames over cleats to make a pair of horizontal sliding doors.

Home Decor Idea

 I cant get enough of this. Here is another great idea, especially if you have a bear mantle or shelf that needs a boost.
