My Garden of love...2012

I decided this year was the year to do another garden. I enjoy gardening; it’s a pleasure to wake up every morning to see how big my plants are getting.
Today I am sharing with you my garden and the front yard garden. I began planting late, but here in the south it was colder longer than usual. At any rate my garden is coming along really well.
This is not my first time planting a garden; I had a garden back in 1995, however then
I was growing squash, Okra, and tomatoes.
This time around, I put in my 4X10ft box, watermelon, cantaloupe, corn, green beads, a strawberry plant (picked up at my local farmer market) and collards.
Bet you’re thinking “WOW that’s a lot.”
And you are correct. LOL
Especially for such a small box, need-less-to-say, I had to DOWN size my garden.
So far so good…

Gardening is fun, and therapeutic especially if you have quit smoking
like I have, 12 weeks now.
WHOOT WHOOT!
Try it, take it one second at a time!

Dyed my hair-Mingo's Natural hair journey

One of the main reasons I decided not to relax my hair any more is because I love to change the color. In the past, I have dyed my hair just for it to fall out because it’s not a good idea to use semi-permanent hair dye or permanent dyes on relaxed hair.
It says that on the box.
Here is a link for the FCIC about hair relaxers and dyes.

In saying that here are some pictures of my new color, I have always loved the color blue/black but I could not find the brand that I used once before. So used Soft Sheen Carson's Midnight Black on the back the sides and in the very front.

Then on the very top; I use an Indigo/blue Semi-permanent hair dye. The problem that I have with the Indigo blue is that it advises you not to make contact with scalp;however, you really can not help that. But eventually the blue will leave the scalp.
(Warning this dye will dye anything blue once  I was done I found blue dots all over the bathroom)

My hair right before I dyed it the blue

As you can see on the back of my scalp is some blue dye stain...
Yesterday I used purple and it really didnt take but it did leave a dark stain on my scalp...
(Prior to the blue)
Here are the results.
I do like the color black on natural hair because on me, it makes my curls pop and they are more defined. As you can also see. The stain the blue leaves on the scalp. I could not help but have the blue drip. I did keep a wet towel around and would patriotically checked around the edges of my hair so that the blue did not stay there for very long. Rubbing alcohol also helps in removing some of the stain.

~I Love Being Natural~(Old Post/Repost)

(not my room) :)

Good evening, at the moment I am watching Cities of the Underworld on History International. I am always on the History Channel.
As I sit her I came across some pictures of my B.C (big chop) and I am amazed how much my hair has grown and how healthy it is. Something else I notice since I have been natural is that I actually play in my hair. I never played in my hair when I relaxed it.
Matter of fact as soon as I relaxed my hair;I would weave it up or Kinky twist it. Which defeats the purpose of relaxing it in the first place. I will never understand why I would relax my hair just to cover it with weave and extensions. At any rate, I just wanted to share some pictures of my progression.
I love being natural!

Hair Update

Hair update...
I decided to plait my hair for a protective style due to the hot weather. But as you may know, if you have been following me on a regular, I don't leave styles in my hair for very long.
This may  be different because it has really been hot lately.

Product Reviews-For My Natural Hair

I decided to do a review on some of the products I use or have used in the past. I often review blogs and videos of ladies that use different products and how they work for their hair. So, I decided to do the same.
(Disclaimer: I am not a licensed cosmetologist, therefore many of these products contains additives that you may not feel are"natural" or "GOOD" for your hair.)

This is one of my favorite products and I use my hair mayonnaise about once a week. I use a generous amount throughout my hair.
Then I cover my hair with a disposal plastic cap and sit for at least 30 minutes allowing my natural body heat to give me a deep heated condition.
 I rise and style.
Hair Mayonnaise makes my hair feel soft and managable. It allows me to detangle my hair with ease!
Great Product

I am a huge fan of Herbal Essences.
When I do a wash and go these are the products that really give me the look I like and without the crunch a lot of products leave on my hair.

Garnier Fructis
Smells great and I used this quite often when my natural hair was very short.
Now that I my natural hair is what is described as a TWA or a Teenie Weenie Afro, this product doesn't do as well as the previous product.

I also loves to use this on my teenage daughters hair.
She is of mixed race
(her fathers is white) so, this product works better on her type hair then mine.

I do not like this product. It leaves my hair crunchy, sticky and eww! I know, I know there are ladies out there that love this GEL. Youtube vids out the yingyang talking about how much they love it. Good for them, however this does not work at all for my hair or my daughters hair.
So it sits.
