Eclectic Creations Up close & Personal

I love receiving emails from clients that say that my jewelry makes them feel special. Or that they received so many compliments on their earrings today. I received an email from a client who said she didn't want to tell anyone where she got her stuff. But she said then that’s not fair to YOU!
 So she told!

Thank you so much for all your support, love and criticism; I am learning from it all.

Below are a few of more pieces to enjoy.

Dyed my hair-Mingo's Natural hair journey

One of the main reasons I decided not to relax my hair any more is because I love to change the color. In the past, I have dyed my hair just for it to fall out because it’s not a good idea to use semi-permanent hair dye or permanent dyes on relaxed hair.
It says that on the box.
Here is a link for the FCIC about hair relaxers and dyes.

In saying that here are some pictures of my new color, I have always loved the color blue/black but I could not find the brand that I used once before. So used Soft Sheen Carson's Midnight Black on the back the sides and in the very front.

Then on the very top; I use an Indigo/blue Semi-permanent hair dye. The problem that I have with the Indigo blue is that it advises you not to make contact with scalp;however, you really can not help that. But eventually the blue will leave the scalp.
(Warning this dye will dye anything blue once  I was done I found blue dots all over the bathroom)

My hair right before I dyed it the blue

As you can see on the back of my scalp is some blue dye stain...
Yesterday I used purple and it really didnt take but it did leave a dark stain on my scalp...
(Prior to the blue)
Here are the results.
I do like the color black on natural hair because on me, it makes my curls pop and they are more defined. As you can also see. The stain the blue leaves on the scalp. I could not help but have the blue drip. I did keep a wet towel around and would patriotically checked around the edges of my hair so that the blue did not stay there for very long. Rubbing alcohol also helps in removing some of the stain.

Time to DYE!!!

Well at least twice a year I dye my hair.
I don't want to over do that because, I have had sooo many incidents of coloring my hair and it would break off...granted; I was relaxing my hair, but I still suffer from post traumatic "hair dye" disorder...LOL
The color I chose was Pumpkin Orange...I currently have red or reddish tint in my hair..and to be honest I have been running across a lot of natural chicks with the same color...
(yeah that grinds my gears)...:)

Once, I lighten my hair with a developer and a booster. I then do a oil treatment to my hair. I know that most salons or professionals, which I am not, say not to wash your hair right after a coloring, but in my opinion the peroxide is soo strong you can feel the stiffness and I don't like that.

((Also there is really no need  to re- lighten your hair again. You can also use a color booster.
I just wanted to lighten a different area of my hair then where it was originally colored or lightened.))

Ok...I am sharing some pictures of the results, before and after..

Thanks for stopping by...
Peace!

~I Love Being Natural~(Old Post/Repost)

(not my room) :)

Good evening, at the moment I am watching Cities of the Underworld on History International. I am always on the History Channel.
As I sit her I came across some pictures of my B.C (big chop) and I am amazed how much my hair has grown and how healthy it is. Something else I notice since I have been natural is that I actually play in my hair. I never played in my hair when I relaxed it.
Matter of fact as soon as I relaxed my hair;I would weave it up or Kinky twist it. Which defeats the purpose of relaxing it in the first place. I will never understand why I would relax my hair just to cover it with weave and extensions. At any rate, I just wanted to share some pictures of my progression.
I love being natural!

CURLFORMERS on natural hair: Mae's Review & Tutorial

As my hair grows more and more I have been able to experiment more with new products. I have been interested in Curl formers for sometime and have found seen some great videos that demonstrate how to use these curlers.
I believe the average cost of this product is $40-$60.

Hair Update

Hair update...
I decided to plait my hair for a protective style due to the hot weather. But as you may know, if you have been following me on a regular, I don't leave styles in my hair for very long.
This may  be different because it has really been hot lately.

Yarn Braids My Natural Hair Journey

I put in some Yarn Braids they look like Locks or Dreads. (in the south those two words are interchangable). Anywho, the process took me a day in a half. I started on Monday at 3pm and was done by late Tuesday at 11pm. But I had a short cut by braiding half way down then later going back to complete the braid.
So far I like them. They are not irritating like synthetic hair nor are they tight or heavy. You must tie a knot at the ends of your hair and burn because they do unravel easily. And  use caution when burning the Acrylic, because it does get hot!!

The Yarn I purchased at Joanne's Fabric for $7.99.
IF the store you choose does not carry a pound then pick up at least 3 small packages of yarn.

Braiding the hair this was ...
Long and Slow
But...

I love it!
